Code of Best Practices PDF Print E-mail

SAIA developed a Code of Best Practices for the industry to ensure aspects of animal welfare and sustainability are addressed when handling livestock.

The Code of Best Practices will focus on Acclimation and Quarantine, Handling and Husbandry and Sales and Transport Practices and define practices for being a ethical, sustainable and responsible operators in the marine aquarium industry.
Each section will be accompanied by information materials and technical documents, which outline in detail what practice is recognised as appropriate and suitable.
We plan for several codes for the wholesalers and retailers, for breeders and culturists, for public aquariums and for producers of aquarium supply. Core document for any industry member will be the code for wholesalers and retailers of marine life, later complemented by the additional codes for each other subcategory.
